• Goal Statement: The goal statement should discuss your desire to study Sociology and explain which areas (theory, research methods, or substantive areas) you want to focus on in your studies. The document could also show how achieving an MA degree from the UCCS Sociology programs fits with your personal and professional goals. Also identify which faculty you would want to take courses from and explain why. (Click Department of Sociology Faculty and Staff for the list of faculty.) The document should have one inch margins, double spaced, 12 inch font and be at least two pages long. Make sure to include your name and the program you are applying to in your goal statement.
• Writing Sample: can be a literature review, a research proposal, or a term paper of an undergraduate-level social science class or course in a related discipline. The writing sample should be in English. And this writing sample should be five to fifteen pages (double-spaced) long.
