Frequently Asked Questions for Current Students
Q: Can you tell me who my advisor will be now that I am admitted into a degree-seeking program?
A: For graduate students, academic advising is conducted within the departments and is separate from our Academic Advising Office. Depending on the department, students are either able to select a faculty member, or a faculty member will be assigned to act as their faculty advisor. Please review the contact information for your program here. Please reach out to the contact listed to learn who your faculty advisor will be if one has not yet been assigned to you or if you are not already in communication with one.
Q: Do I have an advisor as a Non-Degree Student?
A: Non-Degree students are not assigned academic advisors since academic advising is conducted within departments for graduate students. Non-degree students are not degree-seeking and therefore do not have their own department. However, Non-Degree students are welcome to reach out to the program contacts listed here for advice on what prerequisites are needed and what credits may be allowed to transfer over, if they are planning to apply to one of our graduate programs at a later date.
Additionally, non-degree students are welcome to contact our graduate admission examiner, Jose Mora at jmora@uccs.edu for assistance. If an admitted Non-Degree student is ever unsure of who to contact to get the assistance they need, please contact gradinfo@uccs.edu.
Q: How long do I have before I have to accept my admission offer in the application portal?
A: This is dependent on the department and the program you were admitted into, please reach out to the department for this information. You can visit our website here for their contact information.
Q: How can I claim in-state tuition once I am admitted into a graduate program?
A: The Registrar’s office handles residency classification. You can reach that team by email at tuitclas@uccs.edu or registrar@uccs.edu , or you can call them at 719-255-3361.
If you haven’t done so already, please fill out the Tuition Classification Form found on our student forms website here: Student Forms | Office of the Registrar (uccs.edu) Please contact the Registrar office if you have any questions regarding this form.
